November 2010

Email this to a friend

November proved to be a great month. The insane fishing has been going on for 3 months now. We have been using Eric Mormons fishing bite times and the predictions he makes have been bang almost every time. For those of you who don’t know Eric, he is in my opinion an expert on snapper behaviour and the influence the moon has on when fish will bite. They don’t feed all the time and being there when they are feeding will obviously increase your chances of catching fish. Eric invented jigging for Snapper in New Zealand and developed the original lethal lures brand of jigs. We have been working with Eric on a calendar for 2011 which includes bite times for each day of the year. Make sure you get a copy of this calendar so you can predict when the fishing will be good. Valued at $24.99, it is available with each purchase of NZ Fishing News January edition, or if you miss out, we have some extra copies available.

Please make sure you make bookings soonest if you want to come out for a charter as December is totally booked out, and January 2011 is around 60% full. Call John on  021 564 669 or make a booking online so you don’t miss out on the action.

We had a great day today and ventured out further than the rest of the Charter fleet and managed to find a few birds working, we dropped down our lures and all six Anglers hooked up on Big Snappers, the school we found would have had an average size of 6kg, it did not take long to fill the fish bin with a few good sized thumpers. The water is heating up now and January can offer some great fishing in the sun with little wind. The la Nina weather patterns are certainly helping this season, the wind velocity is way down compared with other years which mean calm seas which enables us to get out further to where the bigger fish live. It also makes finding the work ups much easier. Our fishing style is chasing schools of baitfish which usually have Snapper below. We specialize in catching Snapper on light high quality tackle with lures; we are sport fishermen and are at the leading edge of technology in tackle and lures. Look out for us in this months issue of New Zealand Fishing News Magazine, Mark Kitteridge has written a review on our operation and I have written an article about how I find fish.

Just a heads up on two new offers Wave Dancer will have in 2011: Evening charters and Take a Kid fishing days. Full details will be in the January newsletter.

We would like to thank everyone for the tremendous support we have had in 2010. The positive comments we have had are highly appreciated, but we also encourage you to tell us any ideas you have on how your fishing experience can be enhanced.

Best Wishes for Christmas and New Year, and look forward to seeing you in 2011.

Paul and John
